Spent some time with just our eldest today. The difference between being with both of them is just night and day.
It was almost relaxing going for lunch!

Just finished Severance and now I want to watch it all over again. Really enjoyed it. 📺
Kai: Who are you?
Po: I’ve been asking myself that question. Am I the son of a panda? The son of a goose? A student? A teacher? I’m all of those things. [Po’s chi forms the shape of a dragon around him] I am the Dragon Warrior! Get it? You see the giant dragon?
This scence popped into my head recently. I’ve been thinking about who I am and what I do as a result of that. Though, maybe that would be better phrased as ‘because of who I chose to be’?
Maybe. Probably.
Father, husband, son, friend, teacher…
And I’ve been thinking about it because everything has felt a ‘bit’ much lately. Doing everything I can, because what other choice is there, for the first, second and fifth things on that list have are proving a lot. Like I’m stumbling from one to the next to the next. You know how when you’re walking up hill and it looks like you’re about to get to the top but it’s not, you have more climbing to do.
I feel like that.
And I’ve been trying to focus on getting my MEDS(meditation, exercise, diet and sleep) and maybe they are keeping me in check, from being overwhelmed? Probably.
Do love this short video of Magnus Carlsen playing chess in a bar.
Quite a list

Welcome to the real life.
It sucks, but you’ll love it.

From a new cafe-restaurant’s social media update.
Took Elise to McDonald’s today, so that we could get out of the house since she got up so early.
Switched the cold part of the shower to the beginning and it’s definitely more challenging.

Went slow so as to keep moving. White tshirt on a wet track wasn’t my smartest move today.
Anyway, was good to move after a stressful day.
Still slowly making my way through Four Thousand Weeks and scribbled this on my desk.
I’ve also stopped wearing a watch… Trying to stay away, as much as I can, from being beholden to the a clock.
Meditation and making coffee myself was replaced with cuddles and Yumo trying to help.
I’ll take that.

Fun one today…
After it popping up in so many newsletters I’m finally, very slowly, reading Oliver Burkeman’s Four Thousand weeks. I’ve barely started it and can’t stop thinking about it.
Very excited that the new Rivers of London book by Ben Aaronovitch is out.

油茶 Porridge with spices, fried chicken peas and “crunchy bits” absolutely shouldn’t be a great breakfast. But it’s so good.
Watching baseball in Apple TV with morning coffee. Not a clue what’s going on but try something new!
Lots of “We’ll be right back” which I’m guess are all the ad breaks.
Think I’m going to treat myself to a new iPad Air for my 40th in May.
But I don’t want to wait, I should just buy it now should I?
That’s what being an adult means?!
E: (Drinking Non-dairy chocolate milk for the first time.) Is this made from plants. Does this mean I’m a vegetable?
Close!
Home exercise .
Finished reading: Dead Lions by Mick Herron 📚. Really enjoyed this second book. A few bits really hit my funny bone.
